An organisation for professional visual artists.
Visual Artists Ireland (VAI) is an organisation for professional visual artists. It provides services, facilities and resources for artists, initiates artistic projects and publications, and acts as an advocate on behalf of individual artists. Established in 1980, VAI has a current membership of over 1,400 artists. Its programme includes Printed Project (www.printedproject.ie) – a biannual journal edited on a rotating basis by invited curatorial editors. Printed Project presents opinion on issues that enliven debate on art and the wider culture of our present day. VAI also publishes The Visual Artists' News Sheet (The VAN) – a 40-page information resource for artists in Ireland, published 6 times a year. VAI is core-funded by the Arts Council /An Chomhairle Ealaíon and the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
