The Easter weekend of 2008 was a very special one for the ICA and a lucky group of R.E.M. fans. In tribute to 60 years of the ICA, the band played a benefit gig at the Royal Albert Hall, donating a portion of proceeds to our New Commissions Fund. In the build up to the gig, the ICA hosted an exhibition of images charting the band's rise from their fledgling gig at the Pier in 1980 to the present day, including images lent from Anton Corbijn's own archive. The band visited the Mall for a screening and Q&A with filmmaker Vincent Moon and an exclusive first listen of their newest album 'Accelerate' while a collection of Michael Stipe's own photography was projected in the ICA bar.
