Plus Minus Ensemble

A performance focused on the use of language and the voice, as well as the conversations that accompany the collective interpretation of musical notation.

Theatre, 31 May, 7pm

Formed in 2003 by Joanna Bailie and Matthew Shlomowitz, Plus Minus Ensemble is a group of musicians distinguished by its interest in avant-garde, conceptual, and experimental open instrumentation pieces such as Stockhausen's 1963 classic, from which the group takes its name.

Plus Minus was in residence during the final week of Talk Show (26 - 31 May 2009), holding several days of open rehearsals, evening recitals, and a final performance on Sunday 31 May. Their evening sessions, and their ensuing performance, focused on the use of language and the voice within particular pieces, as well as the conversations that accompany the collective interpretation of musical notation.
