We are pleased to announce a special new limited edition by Natalya Pershina-Yakimanskaya, created by the artist for the ICA on the occasion of the first major project in the UK by Russian collective Chto delat? (What is to be done?).

Natalya Pershina-Yakimanskaya, also known as Gluklya, is part of the Russian collective Chto delat?, as well as the collaboration The Factory of Found Clothes, with Olga Egorova.

Pershina-Yakimanskaya’s edition for the ICA is a sketch for the Partisan Songspiel for which Pershina-Yakimanskaya designed the sets and costumes. The ‘songspiels’ are narrative films that sit at the centre of Chto delat?’s visual practice. Taking on a mode of musical theatre developed by Bertolt Brecht and composer Kurt Weill in the early twentieth century, the songspiels present political and social concerns through the accessible and often humorous form of a song. The image of the ‘finger object’ comes from the story of a worker who cut off his finger during a hunger strike.
