Each work in the series portrays an image of The Venus of Hohle Fels, a sculpture which is regarded as the oldest undisputed example of prehistoric figurative art yet found. The sculpture, or at least a crude copy of the sculpture, appears in Mellors’ new video series, Ourhouse (2010- ). The object is purchased from the internet by Truson, a member of the eccentric Maddox-Wilson family that feature in the film. Unable to distinguish between a real and fake object, Truson is convinced that his Venus is a genuine artifact. Using Truson's Venus object, Mellors has created twenty-three unique prints using a camera-less photographic technique. By exposing the sculpture onto paper and manipulating it by hand in the dark-room through a colour photographic process, the artist has created a set of works which vary significantly from one other while obliquely re-instating the Venus as an original.
