Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry
£10 / £8 Concessions / £7 ICA Members
New York documentarian Alison Klayman was granted exclusive access to groundbreaking artist and activist Ai Weiwei, from 2008 through to his arrest and detention by Chinese authorities in 2011. Providing a fascinating overview of Weiwei’s life and work, as well as a revealing insight into the state of contemporary dissent in mainland China, Never Sorry is politically charged, revelatory documentary filmmaking at its most vital and contemporary. Winner of a Special Jury Prize at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival.
Dir. Alison Klayman, USA, 2012, 91 mins, English, and Mandarin with English subtitles. Cert, 15.
