During the last days of World War II, women who had survived the bombing of Berlin were raped by members of Russia’s army as it moved through their destroyed city. Many went to extraordinary lengths to survive and to improve their situation, often having simply to take the least-awful course of action. Based on the diary of an anonymous woman who survived these grim, disconcerting times, this is an insightful and formidable drama. A Metrodome release.
