Elvis Perkins in Dearland

6 April 2009

£9.50 + £1 booking fee per ticket.

Live Nation presents Elvis Perkins in Dearland.

When your parents call you Elvis you might grow up feeling a bit of pressure to be good at something, and when your dad is the genius scary actor from Psycho (Anthony Perkins!), that could really add to the confusion. Luckily for us music lovers, pressure and confusion are key ingredients (along with hormones and, in this case, a harmonica) for great songwriting. Perkins' new LP, Elvis Perkins in Dearland, is a collection of oddly old-fashioned songs, tender and chirpy early-Neil-Young tracks that mix sadness and optimism with jazzy and folk, made with Brigham Brough, Wyndham Boylan-Garnett and Nick Kinsey - three men with accordion, upright bass, trombone, guitar and moustaches, who will join Elvis in the ICA theatre tonight.
