Latin American Political Chants

Working with historical material as an attempt to relate to a crucial political moment through its recorded 'sound qualities'.

Lower Gallery, 18 May 2009, 3pm

We have worked with historical material as an attempt to relate in some way to a crucial political moment through its recorded 'sound qualities'.

Rather than trying to resolve historical events, we have tried to embody and transform some of their voices through discussion and a series of exercises of listening and repetition.

There is an obvious distance between those peoples' struggle and our own immediate context; but it seems that, at least for the duration of this workshop, we renewed a desire for liberation that is common to many of us. Is it not?
