Niyaz are an extraordinary group who blend Middle Eastern folk music and Sufi poetry with electronic techniques and traditional instruments to create hypnotic, ecstatic and highly danceable music. The band are vocalist Azam Ali - who's voice was described by Billboard Magazine as "a glorious, unforgettable instrument", multi-instrumentalist Loga Ramin Torkian, oud master Naser Masa and gifted tabla player Salar Nader who was a student of master percussionist Zakir Husain. Crossing cultural and stylistic boundaries their new double album Nine Heavens is out now.
