1 Dec 2008

In a country with modest budgets for audiovisual work, music videos are one way for aspiring directors to show their talents. The musicians and video directors who live and work in Cuba pour exceptional creativity into producing outstanding music videos. Sadly, much of this work is not often seen outside the island. As part of the Discovering Latin America mission to share Latin America's diversity, beauty and potential, this event celebrates the talent and creativity of Cuban music videos.

Lecture: 8.45pm and 9.30pm

An introductory lecture by award-winning Cuban director Arturo Santana. With photography, videos and anecdotes, Santana will open the door to the Cuban music video scene. His talk will showcase the work of several contemporary directors, and explore visual styles and trends.

30mins approx, plus Q&A

Party: 7.30pm-midnight

The ICA bar will be have Cuban cocktails, a Latin beats DJ set and wall-projections of Cuban videos and the digital photography exhibition Farandulando: The Cuban Creative Scene at Work and at Play, by Saray Calcedo.
