A unique Hong Kong crime film that combines three of the industry's top directors on an exciting 'tag team' project, working a playful variation on the anthology film as each picks up this complex heist thriller where the former left off. Tsui Hark gets things off to a dizzying start (snap to attention fast if you want to know who's up to what), Ringo Lam settles things down with some clear-eyed procedural business, and Johnnie To takes us into his familiar world of night-time action and gangland face-offs. Surprisingly, it not only works as a satisfying whole but ends up being one the most stylish and inventive Asian genre films of the last few years.
