Why, in an apparently rational age, do we remain so superstitious? Modernity seems only to have added to the host of spirits that haunt us. Speakers: Marina Warner, historian and author of Phantasmagoria: Spirit Visions, Metaphors and Media; Andrew Hussey, cultural historian and author of The Game of War: The Life and Death of Guy Debord; Kim Newman, novelist and critic. Chair: Steven Connor, Professor of English and Humanities at Birkbeck College and author of Fly.
