MickRonsonfest

27 Apr 2013

Join us for an exploration of the career of iconic guitarist and producer Mick Ronson (26 May 1946 – 29 April 1993), as we assess his impact on the history of popular music through a series of rare film screenings, talks, and performances.

Ronson is best known for his collaboration with David Bowie on the albums The Man Who Sold the World, Hunky Dory, The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, Aladdin Sane and Pin Ups, where his robust guitar playing, arranging and multi-instrumental talent helped to propel Bowie to stardom.

Ronson released three solo albums and collaborated with musicians such as Bob Dylan, John Cougar Mellencamp and Roger Daltrey. His production credits include Lou Reed’s album Transformer with David Bowie, Morrissey’s Your Arsenal, and the influential punk/new romantic crossover album Ghosts of Princes in Towers by Rich Kids.

There will be DJs and live music in the ICA Bar until 1am, as well as an exhibition of rare Mick Ronson photos, letters and press cuttings from the Ronson family archive.
