Piotr Janas

Asked why he paints Piotr said, "Its like wheezing before an inevitable end." The bleak, gory paintings featured in this challenging ICA book splatter and twitch with a cartoon morbidity and miffed revulsion, bringing to mind Clive Barker's angriest son who has perhaps just accidentally dropped his vast pornography collection and his pet bunny Flopsy into a vast new sink hole. The book features an essay by Lukasz Gorczyca which includes the sentence, "A waterfall of waste pours out of the painting from a suspended colon." Perfect gift for Grandma.
