★★★★★ 'It embraces a mystery and protects it, and it’s thrilling to behold.' Time Out
'Looks less like a documentary than like a highly staged thriller, a piece of brooding provincial noir.' Jonathan Romney, Film Comment Magazine

Following the screening of One More Time with Feeling, the latest documentary featuring Nick Cave and his work on the newly released studio album Skeleton Tree, we are pleased to include a few screenings of Nick Cave’s previous documentary film. 20,000 Days on Earth is a bold look at one of music’s most mysterious and charismatic figures.
But although it contains electrifying scenes of performance, both in the studio and on tour, this is no concert film. Instead it presents Cave’s exploration of his own life and creative processes, with the same stark frankness and wry humour that is found in many of his works. He shares humorous tales of times past with friends and collaborators, during segments that are presented in an almost dreamlike form; we get a glimpse inside his home studio, and even see him open up to psychoanalysis.
Defying traditional rockumentary aesthetics, directors Forsyth and Pollard push the genre to unexplored territory, offering a vision of the artist that is unconventional yet undeniably intimate.
