The Act of Killing + Filmmaking Masterclass with Joshua Oppenheimer

28 Jun 2014

Following its record 52 week run in the ICA Cinema, we are delighted to welcome the Oscar nominated and BAFTA winning director of The Act of Killing Joshua Oppenheimer for a filmmaking masterclass, hosted by Dave Calhoun (Film Editor, Time Out).

In this rare masterclass, Joshua Oppenheimer discusses his 'documentary of the imagination’, exploring the methodology of using fiction to excavate truth. He will trace how The Act of Killing grows from observational documentary to surreal fever dream, and discuss the ethical and political issues involved with making and releasing the film. A must for anyone interested in nonfiction cinema.

Programme

- Intro by Joshua Oppenheimer (10 mins)
- The Act of Killing (Director's Cut, 159 mins)
- Masterclass hosted by Dave Calhoun (60 mins)

The Act of Killing is distributed by Dogwoof.
