BAFTA Masterclass Labs: The Revolution will be Televised

2 Oct 2013

Join broadcaster Miranda Sawyer and the creators of BBC Three's The Revolution Will Be Televised Jolyon Rubinstein, Heydon Prowse and Joe Wade to gain insight into the craft of the award-winning series.

The BAFTA award-winning BBC Three satirical comedy series The Revolution Will Be Televised has captured the imagination of viewers and critics alike. Produced by Hat Trick Productions (Have I Got News For You, Facejacker and Outnumbered), its bite-sized comedy hits - from fictionalised characters to ballsy stunt-led sketches - have grabbed headlines.

George Osborne being handed that GCSE Maths Book? Cheryl Cole supposedly storming out of a BBC TV interview? The National Gallery break in? In the great tradition of mischief-makers like Michael Moore, Mark Thomas and Dom Joly, writers and performers Heydon Prowse and Jolyon Rubinstein bash a variety of subjects over the head on behalf of anyone who has stared open-mouthed at the arrogance, hypocrisy, corruption and greed of various politicians, avaricious multinationals and tax-shy billionaires in the British public eye.

With a second series due to air later this year, join creators Jolyon Rubinstein, Heydon Prowse and Joe Wade to gain insight into the craft of the series – from initial idea conception to viral sensation, to television development to the trials and tribulations of writing, performing and producing prank-led sketch comedy for a TV audience – as well as what we can expect in series two. The three speakers are joined by broadcaster Miranda Sawyer.

BAFTA Masterclass Labs are monthly events where innovative talents from the film and television industries share their creative practices with the audience. Sessions are well illustrated with clips or other media, and with much time for questions, these masterclass labs give the audience an opportunity to exchange ideas with some of the industries’ exceptional newer talents.
