"Power wears out those who don't have it" Giulio Andreotti

Winner of the Jury Prize at Cannes last year, the latest from Paolo Sorrentino is a compelling political thriller about Italy's most powerful and enigmatic politician, Giulio Andreotti. Suspected of involvement with conspiracies dating back to the 1970s, including the murder of 'God's banker' Roberto Calvi under Blackfriars Bridge, Andreotti constantly emerged unscathed. Stylish, enthralling and a little unnerving, Il Divo exposes the nature of true power through the backdrop of politics and plots at the highest levels, and marks Sorrentino's place at the vanguard of Italy's new wave of young filmmakers. Starring Toni Servillo and Anna Bonaiuto.
