Because having Halloween once a year is simply too seldom, join the creators of occult investigator Salem Brownstone the weekend before Halloween for an all-night spooktacular in association with Comica. We'll be opening our doors to the spirit world with uncanny events, including an in-conversation, films, and DJs in the bar. Pleasant nightmares!
- John Harris Dunning and Nikhil Singh in conversation
7pm, Nash Room
Victorian-noir graphic novel Salem Brownstone: All Along the Watchtowers by writer John Harris Dunning and artist Nikhil Singh plunges readers into psychedelic other worlds. The great comics wizard Alan Moore called it "a wonderfully imaginative and stylish piece of work and a perfect example of the adventurous new directions that comic books should be taking in the future." Film ace Harmony Korine said, "Salem Brownstone made me believe in the beautiful darkness of the world again."
Join Comica director Paul Gravett, Guardian Weekend commissioning editor Becky Barnicoat and Journey into Space author Toby Litt in conversation with John Harris Dunning and Nikhil Singh.

- Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome & Invocation of My Demon Brother
10pm and 11pm, Cinema 2
Tonight we screen two of Anger’s short films. Inauguration of the Pleasure Dome is a lush orgy of colour and textures, starring one of L Ron Hubbard's girlfriends and Anaïs Nin as the goddess Astarte. It is a magical ritual and a snapshot of the underground LA scene of the 50s. Invocation of My Demon Brother is mesmerising eye-candy starring Bobby Beausoleil, that cute blond hippy and Manson murderer. A more brutal form of magic all round, with a creepy original synth score by Mick Jagger.
