Crispin Glover at the ICA: WHAT IS IT?

20 May 2014

Crispin Glover, known for creating many memorable and quirky characters on screen, does not disappoint fans of his offbeat sensibilities and eccentric taste as a film director.

Crispin Hellion Glover's Big Slide Show is a one-hour dramatic narration of his books by himself, accompanied by slides projected behind him. This will be followed by a screening of his film What Is It?

What Is It? is part one of the IT trilogy, and premiered at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival to critical acclaim. Although it features a cast largely comprised of actors with Down's Syndrome, that is not what the film is about. Crispin once described it as 'the adventures of a young man whose principal interests are snails, salt, a pipe, and how to get home whilst being tormented by a hubristic racist inner psyche'.

There will be a Q&A and book signing with Crispin Hellion Glover after the film.

What Is It?, dir. Crispin Glover, US 2005, 72 mins, 35mm, cert. 18

Please note that all films are 18+ unless otherwise stated. The feature will start approximately 15 minutes after the listed start time.
