Artist Ellen Altfest discusses her work with Curator and Editor of Works-in-Process.com, Marina Cashdan ahead of her forthcoming exhibition at the White Cube.

Ellen Altfest received an MFA from Yale University, and her "paintings celebrate the way objects become engulfed by their surroundings and simple acts of identification multiply and transform" artist and writer, David Humphrey, 2005. Always painted from life rather than reproduction, Altfest consumes herself in an intense analysis and personal engagement with the subject that pushes her vision beyond the real.

Marina Cashdan currently resides in New York, and alongside her work as a curator and editor, she also contributes to various publications such as Frieze, Modern Painters, Wallpaper* and Surface. Cashdan’s website Works-in-Process.com documents the making of art works from the ideas stage to realization, taking the viewer on the artist’s journey of creation.
