Still: To Get to Heaven First You Have to Die

To Get To Heaven First You Have To Die

28 Nov 200814 Dec 2008

A striking, poetic comedy-drama from young Tajik director Djamshed Usmanov, who made a splash internationally with his 2002 feature Angel on the Right. Unable to have sex with his new bride, Kamal travels to the city in an attempt to find some stimulation. He gets more than he bargained for when he picks up a young married Russian factory-worker. Not only does he end up in bed with her, he also gets to 'spend the night' with her criminal husband. This simple three-hander exerts quite a grip on the viewer, thanks to Usmanov's assured handling of this dark and often funny material.
