Heather Phillipson & Edwin Burdis: BOG-STANDARD REFRESHER

12 Jun 2014

Heather Phillipson invites Edwin Burdis to join her in a new live music event. Using their voices, hands and keyboards, the artists riff around poems, beats, bass lines, (un)popular references and hi-jacked audio refrains. May include real or synthesised small talk.

Heather Phillipson (b.1978, London) works across video, sculpture, sound, text and live events. She has recently held solo shows at Bunker259, New York; BALTIC Centre for Contemporary Art, Gateshead; Zabludowicz Collection, London, and produced a commissioned video for Random Acts, Channel 4 television. She has recently staged live events at Tate Britain, Whitechapel and the Serpentine Gallery, and is also an award-winning poet.

Working across sound, sculpture, painting and drawing, Edwin Burdis ( b.1974, Newcastle) has collaborated with numerous artists, writers and musicians, including Mark Leckey, Steven Claydon and Bonnie Camplin. His work has been presented internationally in solo exhibitions and performances at Wysing Arts Centre, Zabludowicz Collection, BROADWAY 1602, New York, Max Wigram Gallery and Hayward Gallery Project Space.
