Jerusalema + Q&A

7 Dec 2008

Young carjacker Lucky Kunene upgrades to become a real-estate crime boss, constantly evading both the law and the wrath of other local criminals. Director Ziman provides a political context for his narrative, acknowledging the continuing repercussions of apartheid on life in Johannesburg. This edgy and energetic film maintains a distinct South African voice with a winning performance from Rapulana Seiphemo at its centre. Followed by Q&A with producer Tendeka Matatu.

Screening with short South African film Gubi: The Birth of Fruit (Dir Philippa Hermann, South Africa, 2008, 8 mins),

Dir Ralph Ziman, South Africa/US 2008, 118 min
