The Legend of Kaspar Hauser

5 Oct 201228 Oct 2012

Kaspar Hauser, a nineteenth century man who claimed to have been raised in total isolation, is reimagined as an androgynous woman who washes up on a mysterious Mediterranean island, where she/he promptly takes on the respective roles of messiah and enemy for the Sheriff and the Pusher, both played by Vincent Gallo.

A tale of faith, suspicion and flying saucers set to the thudding beats of techno behemoth Vitalic, The Legend of Kaspar Hauser is the sort of unique, astonishing experience of which modern cinema rarely seems capable.

Dir. Davide Manuli, Italy 2012, 95 minutes, Italian with English subtitles.
