From the makers of 2012’s acclaimed documentary Leviathan, this formally audacious new film takes as its sole subject a cable car linking assorted travellers to the legendary Manakamana temple in Nepal. Hypnotic and evocative, the film provides an astonishingly vivid sense of place, recalling the likes of Le Quattro Volte in providing a brief insight into a host of disparate lives in one of the remotest locations on earth.
Manakamana, dirs. Stephanie Spray, Pacho Velez. Nepal/USA 2013.
