This droll comedy from American conceptual artist Miranda July spearheaded a wave of artists coming out of their galleries to take on cinema in their own inimitable idiosyncratic fashion. A huge success following a Grand Jury prize at Sundance and the Camera D'Or in Cannes, this warm, funny and frequently heartbreaking comedy explores what it means to fall in love and how we all struggle to find a person who shares our emotional language. At times breathtakingly daring both in its content and even more in its style, July's first feature displayed a rare confidence, which marked her as a major filmmaker. As her second feature, The Future, reaches UK screens, Me You and Everyone We Know provides a timely reminder of what all the fuss has rightly been about.
