Winner of the Prix Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival in 2009, Dogtooth is a poetic, disquieting family drama from Greek filmmaker Giorgos Lanthimos (Kinetta). Events unfold in peculiar circumstances, as the unnamed family members go about their cut-off daily life.
Living by their own rules (and even using an alien vocabulary) the family seem content in their situation, even though the three children are hemmed in by the boundaries imposed by their strict father. The only outsider to enter their world is Christina (Kalaitzidou), who unwittingly introduces the children to life outside their bubble through a handful of discarded films, which sends the ill-balanced family dynamic into disarray.
