The Neon Demon

15 Jul 201626 Jul 2016

Rising star Elle Fanning (Maleficent, Ginger & Rosa) plays Jesse, an ingénue in the cut-throat world of fashion, who takes up a modelling career in a shimmeringly vibrant Los Angeles. There she’s preyed upon by a group of envious fashionistas, including a make-up artist (Jena Malone, The Hunger Games), a cosmetic surgery addict (Bella Heathcote, Not Fade Away) and real-life supermodel Abbey Lee (Mad Max: Fury Road). Also involved are a nasty motel manager (Reeves) and a manipulative agent played by Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), who also co-starred in writer-director Nicolas Winding Refn’s much-acclaimed Drive. However The Neon Demon is wildly different from that work, becoming a shock-filled horror-thriller as Jesse takes bloody revenge against those who would leech off her beauty and burgeoning success.
