The Shop Around the Corner

James Stewart is the shop manager, Margaret Sullavan his bright and breezy sales clerk, and while they bicker at work they're unwittingly engaged in an letter-writing love affair. Lubitsch mixes sentiment with suspense, the performances are perfect and the comedy is charming. One of the great romantic comedies of all time; one of the great films of all time.
