Sound It Out

25 Nov 20111 Dec 2011

"Hilarious and totally heartwarming" NME
"Like a mint pressing in a bargain bin, Sound It Out is a rare find" New York Times
"A winning combination of High Fidelity and American Splendor" The Guardian

A distinctive, funny and intimate film about men, the North and the irreplaceable role music plays in our lives. This wry affectionate portrait of the very last record shop in Teesside is a real gem, winning international acclaim wherever it shows as it documents the role of the very last surviving vinyl record shop in one of the most economically depressed places in the UK. At once a love letter to music, and a witty incisive exploration of a thriving community who use the shop as a sort of cultural oasis in the face of the homogenous march of chain-store Britain. If it doesn't make you rush home and check out your vinyl collection it's because you never loved music in the first place.
