Sean Baker, Tangerine, 2015

20 Nov 20151 Dec 2015

A hit at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, this taut, ecstatically soundtracked and supremely entertaining comedy stars transgender actors Rodriguez and Taylor as best friends Sin-Dee and Alexandra.

They embark on an odyssey across LA in search of Sin-Dee’s cheating boyfriend. Shot entirely using iPhone camera technology, Baker’s film effortlessly combines hard-edged social observation with hilarious comedy. Built around two joyous central performances, this is arguably the coolest, most exciting American indie of the year. It forms a striking queer counterpoint to 2015’s Dear White People and Dope.

Tangerine, dir. Sean Baker, USA 2015, 88 mins.

The ICA Cinema is now completely ad-free. Please note the feature will start following a selection of trailers and information relevant to the ICA programme. This film is rated 15.
