Steven Cairns is Associate Curator of Artists’ Film and Moving Image at the Institute of Contemporary Arts, London. He recently coordinated the LUX/ICA Biennial of Moving Images 2012, curated Alma Mater (2011/12) a LUX annual touring programme of recent Moving Image from the UK and has contributed to numerous screening programmes and panel discussions. He is also a regular contributor to Artforum and Frieze among other publications.

Jess Flood-Paddock

Employing sculpture, video and photographs, British artist Jess Flood-Paddock (b.1977) explores the exchange value of objects, and more specifically their emotional value. Working across a truly heterogeneous range of subjects - from Aztec fertility statues to wasabi peanut snacks - Flood-Paddock creates interwoven narratives, most often non-linear, which could be described as the 'biographical life of things'.

Laura Mulvey is Professor of Film and Media Studies at Birkbeck College, University of London. She is the author of: Visual and Other Pleasures (new edition with additional material 2009) Fetishism and Curiosity (new edition forthcoming), Citizen Kane (new edition 2012) and Death Twenty-four Times a Second: Stillness and the Moving Image. She made six films in collaboration with Peter Wollen in the 1970s and 80s, including Riddles of the Sphinx (1978) and Frida Kahlo and Tina Modotti (1982) and Disgraced Monuments with Mark Lewis (1994).
