Andy Warhol’s 1965 feature length adaptation of Anthony Burgess’s A Clockwork Orange, starring Gerard Malanga, Edie Sedgwick, Ondine and others, with music from The Kinks and The Rolling Stones. Made six years prior to Stanley Kubrick’s celebrated adaptation and shot unrehearsed, the film features a young Edie Sedgwick in one of her earliest performances. Warhol’s loose retelling of the life and times of Burgess’s archetypal antihero is still challenging and unnerving nearly 50 years on.
