In his debut film performance Prince stars as 'The Kid' – a prodigious young Minneapolis musician who avoids his abusive home-life by performing nightly with his band The Revolution at the legendary First Avenue nightclub. When the Kid meets aspiring singer Apollonia he enters into a turbulent romance that forces him to come to terms with his own self-destructive nature.
The film features chart-topping singles “Purple Rain”, “Let’s Go Crazy”, “When Doves Cry” and won an Academy Award for Best Original Song Score.
Graffiti Bridge, 1990, Prince
The 1990 sequel to Purple Rain sees Prince reprise his role as tenacious musician 'The Kid', who is now owner of the Glam Slam nightclub. When threated with losing the Glam Slam due to financial problems, The Kid challenges his old rival Morris Day to a musical showdown where they must battle for ownership of the club.
Graffiti Bridge features guest performances from gospel singer Mavis Staples and funk icon George Clinton.
